Choosing the right camera settings can be that quick change you're looking for to start playing better at Rocket League and rank up.
Especially if you're still using the default camera settings, this guide will go a long way for you.
Standard camera settings
The quickest way to find the best settings is to browse pro player settings. They generally follow a similar style and are as followed.
- Camera Shake (OFF)
- FOV (110)
- Height (100)
- Angle (-4)
- Distance (270)
- Stiffness (0.5)
- Swivel Speed (6)
- Transition Speed (1.5)
Generally, I would recommend just using the average outlined above, but if you have a favourite player you like to watch on twitch or youtube, you should try copying their settings. This will help you learn from their style as you watch them.
You can find a full list of pro players here
I'll quickly explain each of the settings in case you would like to tweak them.
Camera Shake
This needs to be off. Way to distracting to play with your camera shaking around. Try it for one game and you'll never go back.
FOV
This allows you to see around the field the higher it is. This gives you more field vision without compromising on car size, so this should be maxed out without much exception.
Height
Lower height can be good for dribbles but generally around the 90-110 mark is good for all round play.
Angle
Again a lower again can be good for dribbling but in general you again want a generally neutral angle to be a well rounded player.
Distance
Being further from the car can give more vision however having your car be small makes hitting the ball with accuracy quite difficult. On the other hand, being too close can mean you can't see much of the field. Feel free to find what works for you.
Stiffness
Low stiffness means that your camera will zoom out the faster you go. It also controls the speed at which the camera rotates on ball cam. Low stiffness can be good as it helps you understand the speed you're going, however too low and your car will become to small at super sonic. High stiffness has it's problems that the camera can move too quickly making the game feel like a roller coaster. Somewhere around 0.5 is a safe bet.
Swivel speed
This is how quickly you can manually swivel your camera around. This is one of the settings that you can play around with and find what works for you. Normally the higher you can handle the better.
Transition Speed
This is how quickly your camera moves when you transition from player cam to ball cam. Take the same approach with swivel speed to keep this as high as you are comfortable with. Around 1.5 is normal.
